Yeah, right! I never did this either!
But you really should! I never thought about this until I saw a video by Kandee Johnson and I was like: why did I never think of this?!
All your hair, the oils from your hair and your scalp and hair products stay on your brushes. Without cleaning them, you're just spreading all this through your hair again and again.
Let's get started!
what you need:
- all you need for this is probably already in your house!
- go get your hair brushes, NOW!
- a small comb
- a bowl or a sink
- shampoo or dishwashing soap, whatever you prefer
- an old toothbrush
- a towel
what you do:
- use the small comb to get rid of the hair that's left in your hair brush; just comb through the bristle rows and collect the hair with your fingers
- put some warm water in your bowl and add some shampoo (about 3 teaspoons)
- take some extra drops on the toothbrush
- go back and forth with it between the rows and bristles
- give your brush a good rinse under clear water and shake it!
- then put it on the towel and let it dry (if you have a brush that only has bristles on one side, make sure this side is facing downwards so that everything that's left on the brush strips onto the towel)
You should do this once in 1-3 months depending on how often you wash your hair and how often you use your hair brushes. I almost never use a hairbrush, I prefer a widetooth comb, so I don't need to do this much.
This way you make sure that your hair stays shiny and pretty and your hair brushes last longer!
