the most useful cereal: oatmeal

Oatmeal contains a huge amount of carbohydrates, protein, unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, zinc, iron and calcium and therefore counts as the most useful cereal. As you can see, they've got a bit in common with quinoa.
Consuming oatmeal can have positive effects on your cholesterol level, level of blood sugar and immune system. The contained vitamins provide you with more power, zinc strengthens your nails and gives you beautiful and clear skin. Plus, people who are allergic against gluten can usually consume oatmeal.
Although oatmeal contains a whole lot of carbohydrates, thus a lot of calories, it doesn't necessarily makes you fat. They give you a lot of energy and keep your stomach filled for quite a while. This is due to the dietary fiber, who regulate your digestion and tone down your appetite.
Most of you may know oatmeal only as a an ingredient of granola, but there a lot more ways you can prepare your oatmeal.
You can let it soak over night or for a couple of hours in water or juice. This way you get a filling meal you can serve with fresh fruits and improve with sugar. Or you could make some porridge by cooking the oatmeal in milk and adding some cinnamon. There are even cookies made of oatmeal!
I also uploaded some recipes using oatmeal before, you can check them out here and here. I love oatmeal in any variation, especially for breakfast. And for me and my new-old diet (you can read about it in my last post), the contained protein and iron are a huuuuuuuge plus!

I hope this was helpful xx
