DIY bleached tank inspired by handcraft berlin II

what you need:
  • a black tank
  • gloves
  • bleach
  • a bucket
  • a small plastic bottle
  • something to protect your working area

what you do:
  • put on your gloves to protect your hands from the bleach
  • fill your bucket with a mixture of about 2/3 water and 1/3 bleach
  • choose a few parts (in my case 3) of your tank you do not want to bleach
  • pick them up and dunk the rest of the tank into the mixture
  • let that react for a short while, just until you see slight changes in the color of the tank and the bleach-mixture
  • lay the tank out flat
  • dip your fingers into the mixture and smear around on your shirt
  • you can also dip them into the pure bleach and create some splashes (we did the same in my previous bleached shirt post)
  • let that sink in for a couple more minutes; then wash and dry your tank
  • the next step works best outside in the sun, so take your tank outside and lay it out flat again
  • fill some pure bleach into a small plastic bottle, put your thumb on its mouth and shake it, creating small splashes on your tank
  • instead of using the bottle, you can again just dip your fingers into the bleach and flick them
  • since you're doing this step outside in sunlight, the bleach reacts way more strongly than inside which results in splashes that are a lot lighter
  • wash and dry that whole thing again and you're good to go!

the products I used:
Eau de Javel (bleach) from my local drugstore; you usually get bleach in the detergent-section
